A “man in the middle” attack can be performed when a Ledger wallet user attempts to generate an address to receive bitcoins.
If the computer is infected with malware, the attacker can secretly replace the code responsible for generating the address.
How to protect yourself? Always verify your receive address:
Ledger users should click on the “monitor button”. That will display the receiving address on the wallet’s physical display.
This is the Ledger announcement on their twitter Chanel:
Always verify your receive address on the device’s screen by clicking on the “monitor button”.
